Project Types

Installing 4-10 Level 2 charging ports for:

  • Multi-unit residential buildings
  • Publicly available charging
  • Fleet and workplace charging

Eligible Applicants
  • Businesses
  • Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Public organizations
  • Tribal governments

Private and public entities are encouraged to apply.

Funds Available

$1M available this round.

  • Level 2: $10,000 per port, or up to 80% of project costs

Projects that qualify for reduced match may receive up to 100% of project costs. More information in guidelines.

Funding Cycle

Applications will open for several rounds. Ecology expects to distribute the full $3.5M for Level 2 charging projects over the next two years.

Project Period

Recipients should expect to complete projects within one year of signing grant agreements.

Project Types

Installing Level 2 charging for:

  • Publicly available charging in underserved communities
  • Fleet depot and workplace charging

Installing DC fast chargers for:

  • Publicly available charging in underserved communities
Application Period
Sept. 6 – Dec. 1, 2023 (Closed)
Eligible Applicants
  • Electric utilities
  • Public agencies
  • Federally recognized tribal governments, their members, and enterprises owned by tribes but off tribal lands
  • Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations

Leads are encouraged to partner with each other and the private sector, including charging companies or site hosts.

Funds Available

$64M available this round.

  • Level 2: $7,500 per port
  • DC fast charging: $85,000 per port

Projects that include priority elements may qualify for additional points. More information in guidelines.

Funding Cycle

The first of two funding cycles to be offered in 2023-25. An additional $60M is expected to be distributed in 2024-25.

Project Period

Recipients should expect to complete Level 2 projects within 270 days, and DCFC projects within 580 days.

Project Types

Installing new DC fast chargers or new hydrogen refueling infrastructure:

  • Within 1 driving mile of state highway corridors
  • Multiple sites per project allowed
Application Period
March 3 – June 29, 2023 (Closed)
Eligible Applicants
  • Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Tribes
  • State and local government agencies such as cities, towns, counties, and districts

Potential grant recipients must partner with private-sector organizations to develop and implement their projects.

$30M available total. (No limits per port)

Funding Cycle

Notice of Proposed Awards will occur mid-September 2023.

Project Period

Recipients must complete construction of project and final reimbursement submittals by June 30, 2025.
